Old Main’s bell tolled for 10 minutes to signal the start of festivities. A king and queen were crowned to rule the event. With classes cancelled for two days, students eagerly rushed to complete preparations for a “most cherished tradition,” CU Days.

More than 20 floats crept past the president’s house headed down Broadway for Pearl Street. Greek houses sported elaborate facades. Serious athletes participated in the spring football scrimmage and track meet while dorm residents tuned up for the songfest.

In addition, earnest high school seniors toured departmental exhibits, noted speakers lectured and alumni presented the Norlin Award for outstanding lifetime achievement.
