Born and raised in a minority Hindu family in rural Bangladesh, Sima BhowmikÌýhad always dreamt of bringingÌý±è´Ç²õ¾±³Ù¾±±¹±ðÌýchanges into society and placing herself where sheÌýhasÌýthe capability to do so. She believes that media hasÌýthe power of changing things, which inspired herÌýto get into journalism at the age of 19.ÌýAt theÌýtime, sheÌýwas studying botany and simultaneouslyÌýworking atÌýaÌýnewspaperÌýas a contributor,ÌýwhereÌýsheÌýfellÌýin loveÌýwith journalism.ÌýÌý

In Bangladesh,ÌýsheÌýworkedÌýas a reporter forÌýnearly a decade inÌýnewspapers, radio andÌýtelevision. Before sheÌýcame toÌýtheÌýUSA in 2018,ÌýsheÌýwas working as a senior reporter and news presenter at the 24-hours news channel JamunaÌýTV,Ìýwhere sheÌýwas also hosting a weekly business show called "Inside Business".ÌýÌý

In 2013, sheÌýgot the Bangladeshi Media Exchange Fellowship from the State Department and didÌýaÌýfive-week long certificate program at the University of Oklahoma.ÌýÌý

She completed herÌýmaster's in journalism at the University of Mississippi in MayÌý2020 where she received a Graduate Achievement Award in Journalism.ÌýShe also has a master's in botany fromÌýJagganathÌýUniversity of Bangladesh,Ìýand herÌýbachelor'sÌýdegreeÌýin botany from the same university. She has been a member of the The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi since 2019.
