Born and raised in a minority Hindu family in rural Bangladesh, Sima Bhowmik听had always dreamt of bringing听辫辞蝉颈迟颈惫别听changes into society and placing herself where she听has听the capability to do so. She believes that media has听the power of changing things, which inspired her听to get into journalism at the age of 19.听At the听time, she听was studying botany and simultaneously听working at听a听newspaper听as a contributor,听where听she听fell听in love听with journalism.听听
In Bangladesh,听she听worked听as a reporter for听nearly a decade in听newspapers, radio and听television. Before she听came to听the听USA in 2018,听she听was working as a senior reporter and news presenter at the 24-hours news channel Jamuna听TV,听where she听was also hosting a weekly business show called "Inside Business".听听
In 2013, she听got the Bangladeshi Media Exchange Fellowship from the State Department and did听a听five-week long certificate program at the University of Oklahoma.听听
She completed her听master's in journalism at the University of Mississippi in May听2020 where she received a Graduate Achievement Award in Journalism.听She also has a master's in botany from听Jagganath听University of Bangladesh,听and her听bachelor's听degree听in botany from the same university. She has been a member of the The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi since 2019.
