Kirk Ambrose is professor and chair of the department of Art and Art History. In addition to many articles and book chapters, he is author of The Nave Sculpture of Vézelay: The Art of Monastic Viewing (2006) andÌýThe Marvellous and the Monstrous in the Sculpture of Twelfth-Century EuropeÌý(2013). Along with Robert Maxwell (University of Pennsylvania), he edited and translatedÌýCurrent Directions of Romanesque Sculpture StudiesÌý(2010). He is currently at work on, among other projects, a volume on Portuguese Romanesque sculpture and an exhibition of women artists in Colorado, 1898-1950. He further serves as editor-in-chief of The Art Bulletin, the journal of record for art historians in America.
