The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering is launching a new crowdfunding effort for a scholarship in honor of Teaching Professor Emeritus Janet deGrazia, who retired in 2019. Professor deGrazia was recently diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer, prompting the department to pursue this scholarship to honor her legacy.

Professor deGrazia sees this scholarship as an opportunity to help future students achieve their full potential in chemical and biological engineering. This merit-based scholarship fund will support undergraduates attending the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering.

DeGrazia served as an instructor at the department from 2002 to 2019, educating and mentoring an entire generation of chemical and biological engineers. During her time here, she consistently earned overwhelmingly positive feedback from her students and won numerous awards.

DeGrazia also helped found the online instructional website, for which she recorded hundreds of instructional videos. She authored 10 academic and conference papers and developed chemical engineering courses for students of all ages. She began her career here at CU Boulder, earning her PhD in chemical engineering in 1998.

Alumni and friends of the department are encouraged to consider donating to this , which will help support future undergraduate chemical and biological engineers.
