Bud Coleman is an Professor at the University of Colorado at Boulder and former Chair of the Department of Theatre & Dance. He currently holds the Roe Green Endowed Chair in theatre and serves A&S as Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs.Ìý A former dancer with Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, Fort Worth Ballet, Kinesis, and Ballet Austin, he has directed/choreographedÌýCompany,ÌýSeussical,ÌýA Grand Night for Singing,ÌýPippin,ÌýWonderful Town,ÌýSongs in the Key of . . . CaffeineÌý(also librettist),ÌýA Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,ÌýThe Mikado,ÌýInto the Woods,ÌýMerrily We Roll Along,ÌýLysistrata,ÌýDames at Sea,ÌýHair,ÌýSix Degrees of Separation, the operaÌýBeing of Sound Mind, and numerous other productions.

Professor Coleman has a Ph.D. in Theatre History and Criticism from the University of Texas at Austin, and his publications have appeared in theÌýSt. James Press Gay & Lesbian Almanac,Ìý,ÌýNew York Native,ÌýTheatre History Studies,ÌýThe Austin American-Statesman,ÌýTheatre InSight, andÌýChoreography and Dance. With co-editor Judith Sebesta, they publishedÌýWomen in American Musical Theatre: Essays on Lyricists, Writers, Arrangers, Choreographers, Designers, Producers, and Performance Artists, 2007. Professor Coleman’s writing includes analytical articles on the performance of gender, musical theatre, and American Theatre History.
