Whitney is a PhD candidate in Environmental Engineering. She has interned with Fresh Life, part of the Sanergy Collaborative, in Nairobi, Kenya, on the Government Affairs and Policy Advocacy Team. Her work contributed to providing access to non-sewered sanitation for residents living in informal settlements in 3 counties of Kenya and in Lusaka, Zambia. Whitney also has experience in as a design engineer for water and wastewater treatment facilities with JVA Consulting Engineers and as a wastewater process engineer intern at South Platte Renew in Englewood, CO.Ìý

Whitney is advised by Dr. Evan Thomas at the Mortenson Center. Her research includes evaluation and implementation of water security and drought-resilience projects in the Horn of Africa and the attribution of nature-based solutions on improved in-stream water quality in the Yampa River. Whitney loves working with and learning from her passionate peers and advisors in the Mortenson Center. One of her favorite parts is helping to organize the entirely student-run Colorado WASH Symposium, hosted by CU Boulder annually.Ìý

In her free time, Whitney loves hiking, yoga, snowboarding and listening to music.Ìý
