Welcome, Dr. JesĂşs RodrĂguez, the new executive director of the BUENO Center for Multicultural Education
The BUENO Center for Multicultural Education at the Â鶹ĘÓƵ School of Education, is thrilled to announce Dr. JesĂşs RodrĂguez as the center’s new Executive Director as of July 20, 2020.
“After conducting a nationwide search, we are delighted Jesús will be leading the BUENO Center as our own BUENO CAMP, BUENO Career Ladder, and BUENO’s Educational Equity and Cultural Diversity master’s graduate,” said Dr. Sandra Butvilofsky, Interim Executive Director for BUENO Center and assistant research professor in the School of Education. “It feels like one of our own is returning home to help guide the next generation of BUENO graduates and leaders.”
RodrĂguez has extensive experience working as a teacher, principal, and central office leader, most recently as an instructional superintendent for the Denver Public Schools. He recently earned his doctoral degree in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies from the University of Denver. RodrĂguez has a strong commitment to social justice and equity for all learners.
RodrĂguez brings education and experience working with students, families, teachers and school leaders to lead the BUENO Center. Recognizing the uncertainty of our current times with the global pandemic, the center’s program directors are confident RodrĂguez is the right leader to take the BUENO Center into its next chapter. RodrĂguez will lead the center and its more than 40-year legacy of supporting bilingual and multicultural education in the School of Education's new campus location.
“One of the things that excites me most about this opportunity is that the BUENO Center has had a significant impact on me and my journey as an educator,” RodrĂguez said. “I know first hand how beneficial the resources, programs, and leaders at the BUENO Center are to so many diverse professionals and there is a need to continue these essential offerings and expand them. I am looking forward to working with our team to honor the legacy of the center and build upon its strong foundation to benefit communities for generations to come. ¡Que viva el centro BUENO!”
