This form should be used to request the hire of an hourly student employee. You are encouraged to review our one-page guide for Hiring Hourly Student Employees. Important Information:

• The minimum wage for undergraduate hourly student positions is $16.00 per hour and for graduate students it is $17.60 per hour.
• If you need assistance determining an appropriate pay rate, Student Employment has a webpage that lists pay ranges based on the level of work your employee will be conducting. We can hire within any of those ranges, so long as the work associated with the pay is justified.Ìý
• Pay rates for Graders, Readers, and Course Assistants are set and paid for by the department. Please acquire approval from the Department Chair prior to submitting a hire request for one of these positions. When submitting a hire request for one of these positions, for the section that requests "speedtype," simply type "Grader speedtype." If unsure whether you are looking to hire a Grader or Course Assistant, please review the descriptions for each job type on our Careers page.
• Detailed information about the different types of student positions in our department can be found here and in the table below.
• Please ensure that the account(s) from which you are funding this hire allows for HOURLY wages. If you are unsure, please email ceaefinance@colorado.edu before making this request. Funds that should be paid out as stipends, for example, should not be requested on this form. Please email madison.lane@colorado.edu and she will work with you to distribute the funds properly.

*Graduate student Graders, formally called Readers, are paid via contract (in the same way as our GRAs and TAs) and receive payment on the last business day of each month. Their contract rate is determined as follows: $19 per hour x # of hours worked per week x # of weeks employed during the semester = $total contract amount.
