Speaker Series: Dr. Joyce Flueckiger

The Center for Asian Studies is happy to announce the following events, as part of our ongoing Speaker Series:

The Â鶹ÊÓƵ is pleased to host from Emory University's Department of Religion. Dr. Flueckiger will lead two presentations on Friday, September 21 on CU-Boulder campus.

The first presentation will be a colloquium talk, entitled "Gold in the Kitchen: Wedding Pendants Creating Protection, Identity, and Relationships in South India." Dr. Flueckiger will explore the variety and meaning of south Indian women’s sacred gold wedding tali necklaces. This event will begin at 12 PM in Hale 450.

The second presentation will be a public lecture based on her forthcoming new book entitled, "When the World Becomes Female: Possibilities of a South Indian Goddess." This event will begin at 4 PM in Hale 230.
