Five modelers from the Ministry of Mahaweli Development & Environment in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and their stakeholder water users attended a one-week “Advanced River System Modeling with RiverWare” customized training session, February 26–March 2, 2018, at CADSWES. Also in attendance was a consultant from Lahmeyer International, who has been building RiverWare models of the Mahaweli system.

This class built on two training sessions that David Neumann of CADSWES provided in Colombo in 2017, and focused on advanced rulebased simulation topics through tutorials, presentations and exercises. The trainees described their basin and operations, developed pseudocode of the operating policy and then coded RiverWare policy rules in the model.
