Ann Mashburn (Fin’83) landed her first job in fashion at Vogue in New York City. As assistant to a legendary fashion editor, she found herself surrounded by confident established women. “I became very acquainted with the feeling of not having it figured out yet,” recalls Mashburn. As a result, she quickly learned to observe and soak up all the wisdom she could.

Today, Mashburn is co-owner and chief creative officer of the Sid & Ann Mashburn fashion company. Lauded by the media as a lifestyle tastemaker, she retails her own line of clothing, footwear and accessories nationwide.

Attributing much of her success to a business degree from the Leeds School of Business, Mashburn points out that every “forward-facing thing” falls into the realm of business.
