China Trip Taking advantage of their first Spring Break in years, a group of Leeds MBA students packed their bags and jumped on a plane to…China?

The ten-day trip through Beijing, Suzhou and Shanghai was the culmination of the spring class, Global Perspectives: Contrasting Operations in US and China, taught by Lori Seward. Throughout the trip, we met with US and Chinese business leaders, including a handful of Leeds alumni, on contrasting business practices and the challenges and opportunities provided in China. We also toured several business and industrial sites including , Yangshan Port (the world’s largest deep water port), , and .

Though the entire trip was one long highlight, some standout moments include hiking up to the Great Wall and subsequently , visiting the Beijing Olympic Park already being prepared for the 2022 Olympic Winter Games and witnessing the grandeur of the Bund in Shanghai. And did I mention the food? I strongly believe that dumplings and noodles should be present at every meal in the US.

All in all, #springbreakchina was a huge success and a business and cultural eye-opener. Jetlagged and hazy, we all agreed that a return trip to uncover more of China’s fascinating and complex intricacies is in order.
