Biography

Dr. Cathleen Burns is a Senior Instructor of Accounting at the Leeds School of Business at the Â鶹ÊÓƵ.

Cathleen served as the Associate Dean for Academic Programs from 2006-2008. She has developed and delivered custom executive education programs for Boeing, Shell, Molson Coors, Basic American Foods, KPMG and Deloitte, as well as the open enrollment program, Finance and Accounting for Non-Financial Executives.

Cathleen received a BS in Applied Science from Miami University, an MBA from Xavier University, and a PhD from New Mexico State University. Cathleen is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Colorado, Missouri and New Mexico. Over Cathleen’s twenty-year teaching career, she has received 14 local, state, regional and national awards for teaching at three different universities including the 1996 American Accounting Association’s Innovation in Accounting Education Award and the 2006 Frascona Teaching Excellence Award.

Prior to pursuing a PhD, Cathleen worked as an industrial engineer for Procter & Gamble, as a financial analyst for Honeywell, Inc. and in public accounting. She completed a faculty internship in five Denver accounting firms during 2008.
