Why did you decide to come to Leeds?
I decided to come to Leeds because it was the best business school in Colorado, and I knew that I wanted to go into the business world after graduation; therefore, it seemed like a natural fit. I also grew up on the CU campus and could not imagine going anywhere else.Ìý
What is one thing you learned at Leeds that you will never forget?
Network, network, network! Networking is the most crucial thing in the business world, and you never know where your network might take you and what opportunities will arise due to the network that you have built!Ìý
Tell us about a particular professor or mentor that influenced you while you were at Leeds.
My PMP mentor really helped me figure out what I wanted to do in life and that there are many different areas of events. Also, Don Oest really helped me realize that I could be a business student and helped me understand BCOR even though he was not my main professor!Ìý
Where has life taken you since you graduated Leeds?
Life has actually kept me at Leeds. Upon graduating, a role opened up that I could not pass up, and I have been with the Advancement team since. It has been great to connect with my classmates through Alumni Relations and help other students learn through internships in my office.Ìý
What is one piece of advice/best practice that has stuck with you throughout your career?
Not only should you network, you should also continue to grow those connections. Networking is one thing; however, truly building a relationship and staying in touch with those whom you meet networking is what helps you stay connected.Ìý
What advice would you give to anyone interested in pursuing a career in your professional field?
If you are looking at pursuing a career in the world of events get as much experience—and try your hand at as many different events—as possible during school. This could be working with a catering company for an event, planning events for the club you are a part of, or having a full internship in events. Experience and knowing what types of events and roles you enjoy will really help with your career after school.
What do you miss most about Boulder?
