Data Narratives in Sound and Yarn

Close-up detail of the “forgetting” scarf, with elements such as diagonal lines of holes and groups of bulbs, as well as the creator, Mikhaila Friske, wearing the scarf.

This project explores how we might collect data in non-traditional forms, such as data sonifications and data physicalizations made of yarn. Through an ongoing collaborative process of collecting, composing, and sharing their personal data, the authors imagined more possibilities for sharing data, particularly those that embrace multiple and conflicting interpretations.
