Anth 4615/5615 Kinship: Being and Belonging
FALL 2024 Tues/Thurs 12:30-1:45pm, Hale 246 Instructor: Dr. Kathryn Goldfarb

What does it mean to describe a friend as "like family"? When is "Family" actually about disconnection rather than connection? In what ways do people "choose" their own family members? How does international or transracial adoption shape understandings of race within families? How do caregiving ties constitute or complicate kinship relationships?
