Chinese and Japanese Honor Societies 2019
The following studentÌýhas been approved to be inducted intoÌý.ÌýThe National Chinese Honor Society College Chapter, sponsored by the Chinese Language Teachers Association, USA (CLTA), is founded to recognize the outstanding academic achievement of college students in learning Chinese as a second language, to encourage them to continue to study Chinese after they graduate from college, and to promote the study of Chinese language, literature, and culture in the United States.ÌýStudents must have enrolled in the sixth semesterÌýof the Chinese course, maintain a GPAÌý in Chinese language and must have an overall GPA of 3.0 at time of nomination.ÌýAccepted students will receive a certificate and a cord, and the name of each accepted student will be listed on the webpage for the National Chinese Honor Society College Chapter at the CLTA website.

The following seven students wereÌýnominated and have been inducted intoÌý.Ìý The Japanese National Honor Society recognizes and encourages achievement and excellence in the study of the Japanese language.Ìý The society is administered by the American Association of Teachers of Japanese (AATJ), and membership is recognized as a national achievement. These students are ones of over 1,000 college and university students who have been inducted into JNHS-CC since its establishment in 2007. Students must maintain a GPA of 3.5 in 5 semester- or 7 quarter-courses in Japanese language and must have an overall GPA of 3.0 at time of nomination. Students who are nominated for membership receive Certificates of Excellence and red-and-white cords to wear at graduation, and are recognized on the AATJ website.
