March 27, 2022
Dear colleagues,
I hope you have read Chancellor DiStefano’s message to the CU Boulder community earlier today about the impacts of the fire near that started adjacent to the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in the south Boulder foothills and about the resources available to faculty, staff and students impacted by the fire.Ìý
Classes and campus operations will resume on Monday, March 28, as scheduled. As Chancellor DiStefano stressed, however, those whose lives have been disrupted due to this fire will need all of us on campus to respond with care and flexibility.
If you are teaching a class and need to make alternative arrangements because you have been affected by the fire, please work with your department/program chair or director on determining what arrangements are best for you and your class—whether to cancel a class session, seek a substitute instructor, or teach remotely rather than in person.TAs should work with the instructor of record for the course on any accommodations they may need for their teaching.
If students who have been affected by the fire contact you regarding course accommodations, please be generous and flexible with them regarding any missed class sessions, assignment extensions or make-up exams or quizzes. If students need further assistance, they should contact Student Support and Case Management.Ìý
Thank you for all the help you are giving your students and colleagues in this stressful situation, and if you are yourself affected, please do reach out for assistance with anything you need and avail yourselves of the resources listed in the chancellor’s message.Ìý
Sincerely,
Katherine Eggert
